Storm Emeralda Leak: Mega Rayquaza ex Confirmed for July 2026 Japanese Set
First details have leaked for what appears to be the fourth Japanese Pokémon TCG set of 2026: MEGA Expansion Pack Storm Emeralda (ポケモンカードゲーム MEGA 拡張パック ストームエメラルダ). The headline news for collectors: the set is built around Mega Rayquaza ex — one of the most popular Pokémon of all time and potentially the most hyped chase card of the entire Mega Evolution era.
Important note: the details below come from early leaks and are not yet officially confirmed by The Pokémon Company. Set contents, card lists, and even some product details may change before the official reveal. We'll update this page as official information becomes available.
Storm Emeralda: What We Know So Far
Storm Emeralda is the Japanese-language set expected to form the basis of the Western Storm Emerald release later in 2026. Here are the leaked details:
Set name: MEGA Expansion Pack Storm Emeralda (ストームエメラルダ)
Japan release date: July 31, 2026
Booster box contents: 30 packs per booster box
Booster box price: 6,000 yen (approx. CHF 33–35 at current exchange rates, before import/retail)
Set size: unknown for now — to be confirmed at official reveal
Headline card: Mega Rayquaza ex (speculated)
Why Mega Rayquaza ex Is a Big Deal
Rayquaza has one of the most dedicated collector followings of any Pokémon. The Legendary Dragon-type from Hoenn has historically commanded premium prices across every era of the TCG — and a Mega Evolution treatment in the current era's Special Illustration Rare format is exactly the kind of card that drives set hype to its peak.
If the speculation holds, the Mega Rayquaza ex SIR could become the standout chase card of the entire Mega Evolution era — comparable to or exceeding the demand we've seen for Mega Charizard X ex from ME01 and the upcoming Mega Darkrai ex from Pitch Black.
Collection File Premium Mega Rayquaza
Alongside Storm Emeralda, a separate premium product has been listed: the Pokémon Card Game Collection File Premium Mega Rayquaza (コレクションファイルプレミアム メガレックウザ).
Release date: July 31, 2026 (same day as Storm Emeralda)
Price: 2,200 yen (approx. CHF 12–13 before import/retail)
Product type: premium collection file — typically includes a binder/storage element plus promo cards
Three New MEGA Starter Sets ex
Also launching July 31, 2026 in Japan are three new MEGA Starter Sets ex — ready-to-play decks aimed at newer players and collectors who want guaranteed specific Pokémon:
MEGA Starter Set ex Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex (ニャオハ&マスカーニャex)
MEGA Starter Set ex Eevee ex (イーブイex)
MEGA Starter Set ex Zorua & Zoroark ex (ゾロア&ゾロアークex)
Each starter set is listed at 1,800 yen (approx. CHF 10 before import/retail). Starter sets are an affordable entry point and often contain exclusive promo versions of their featured Pokémon — the Eevee ex starter in particular is likely to attract collector interest given Eevee's popularity.
Storm Emeralda vs Storm Emerald: Japanese and Western Releases
A quick clarification on naming. Storm Emeralda is the Japanese set, releasing July 31, 2026. The Western (English) equivalent — expected to be called Storm Emerald — typically follows the Japanese release by several months. Based on the current Mega Evolution era cadence, we'd expect the English Storm Emerald set in fall 2026.
For collectors, this means two pre-order opportunities: the Japanese Storm Emeralda (booster boxes with 30 packs, Japanese-language cards) and later the English Storm Emerald (booster boxes with the Western 36-pack structure). We expect to carry both at Celestrion.
When Can You Pre-Order at Celestrion?
Storm Emeralda is not yet available for pre-order — official product images and distributor allocations typically open a few weeks after the initial reveal. As soon as we have confirmed product and pricing, Storm Emeralda and Storm Emerald pre-orders will open at Celestrion at MSRP, with shipping from Switzerland.
In the meantime, the current Mega Evolution sets are available now: Chaos Rising (Mega Greninja ex) launches May 22, and Pitch Black (Mega Darkrai ex) follows on July 17. Both are covered in detail in our complete Mega Evolution era 2026 guide.

We'll update this page as official details are confirmed — set size, full card list, official product images, and Western release timing. Note: all yen-to-CHF conversions are approximate and for reference only — final retail pricing depends on import costs, exchange rates at time of allocation, and distributor pricing.
